Gijang-gun, Busan to Fully Launch Dongbusan Local Food Complex Cultural Center Project in June
Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on June 5 that the "Dongbusan Local Food Complex Cultural Center Construction Project," which aims to lead a new local food distribution culture in the region, will be fully launched starting in June.
This project is a key pledge of the 8th popularly elected administration, aiming to secure stable sales channels and revitalize the local economy by establishing a permanent direct sales space for local agricultural products.
The construction and operation of the center will be handled by the Dongbusan Agricultural Cooperative. The total project cost is 2.4 billion KRW, with 600 million KRW each from the city and county budgets, and 1.2 billion KRW self-funded by the cooperative.
The center will be built in Banggok-ri, Jeonggwan-eup, with a total floor area of 563 square meters. The first floor will feature a local food direct sales store and a shared workspace, while the second floor will house a local cafe or restaurant and other complex cultural spaces. The project will begin in June with the demolition of existing buildings and design services, break ground in the second half of the year, and aims for completion and opening in the second half of next year.
Once completed, the center is expected to serve as a hub for food distribution culture that promotes the consumption of local agricultural products, as well as contribute to securing stable sales channels for vulnerable farmers.
