Arm Unveils Automotive Computing System 'Zena'... "Accelerates New Vehicle Launches by One Year"
Chip Development Time Reduced by Up to 12 Months
Limited Release to Select Customers, Full Launch Scheduled for September
Global semiconductor intellectual property (IP) company Arm has unveiled its next-generation automotive computing subsystem (CSS), 'Zena.' The company expects that Zena can shorten chip development time by up to 12 months, potentially enabling new vehicle models to be released at least a year earlier than before.
At a press conference held at the President Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 5th, Sunwook Hwang, President of Arm Korea, explained, "Zena CSS is the first pre-integrated and pre-verified platform developed based on Arm V9-based Automotive Enhanced (AE) technology."
CSS is a core computing platform responsible for data processing within a system-on-chip (SoC). Zena CSS offers the capability to reduce traditional chip development time by up to 12 months. In addition, it can reduce silicon engineering efforts per project by up to 20%, enabling OEMs and silicon suppliers to bring new vehicle models to market more quickly. These vehicles can feature intelligent voice and touch interfaces, immersive digital cockpit experiences, driver assistance and autonomous functions, and real-time situational awareness.

Hwang stated, "In recent years, the automotive industry has been changing rapidly, with SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle) becoming a major turning point at the center of this transformation." He added, "Looking further ahead, AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology will be applied to vehicles, making new user experiences and enhanced safety features a reality. This will mark a new era for AIDV (AI-Driven Vehicle) as the next major shift."
The official launch of Zena CSS is scheduled for September this year. Hwang said, "Zena CSS is currently being provided on a limited basis to select partners," and added, "We plan to fully launch it in September this year to make it available to more partners."
