Jeonnam Provincial Council Opens 391st Regular Session to Review Provincial Affairs and Budget
Discussion on Key Issues Such as Vacancies in Innovation City
Thorough Review of Settlement of Accounts and Reserve Fund Execution
The Jeonnam Provincial Council convened the first plenary session of its 391st regular meeting on June 5, launching a 13-day session that will run until June 17.
During the plenary session, key proposals were submitted, including a resolution urging the reorganization of the scholarship support system to address regional disparities, spearheaded by Councilor Cha Youngsu. In addition, a total of six councilors, including Lee Jaetae and Oh Mihwa, delivered five-minute speeches, offering a range of policy suggestions on local issues such as the vacancy problem in Bitgaram Innovation City’s commercial districts and other provincial matters.
Each standing committee is set to conduct in-depth reviews of a total of 52 agenda items, including the Jeonnam Provincial Ordinance on Support and Attraction of International Students (proposed by Councilor Choi Junghoon) and the Jeonnam Provincial Ordinance on Fostering and Supporting the Virtual Convergence Industry (proposed by Councilor Choi Seonguk).
In particular, this regular session will include a comprehensive review of the 2024 fiscal year’s settlement of accounts and reserve fund expenditures to assess whether budget formulation and execution have been appropriate and efficient.
An official from the provincial council stated, “This regular session is an important period for reviewing policies aimed at improving residents’ quality of life and closely examining the appropriateness of budget execution. We hope to see not only checks and oversight of the executive branch but also productive discussions to prepare for the future.”
