Democratic Innovation Council of Sejong: "Confident in Administrative Capital Envisioned by Roh Moo-hyun, Completed by Lee Jaemyung"
Statement Expresses Expectations for the Construction of the Presidential Office and National Assembly Building in Sejong During the Presidential Term
On June 4, the Democratic Innovation Council of Sejong issued a statement regarding the 21st presidential election, evaluating it as a victory for the revolution of light by the people who hoped for an end to insurrection and the restoration of democracy and the economy. The council pledged to take the lead in building a true Republic of Korea under President Lee Jaemyung and in completing Sejong as the administrative capital.
The Innovation Council stated, "When the people's livelihoods, the economy, democracy, national security, and peace were devastated by the December 3 Yoon Sukyeol insurrection last year, and the country was on the brink of regressing into a backward democracy, the people rose up in the revolution of light and led to the impeachment and dismissal of Yoon Sukyeol." The council added, "With Lee Jaemyung elected president in the early presidential election, the country has reached a turning point toward normalization and the construction of a new Republic of Korea."
The council continued, "President Lee Jaemyung will usher in an era of popular sovereignty as guaranteed by the Constitution and play a leading role in restoring democracy, the economy, security, and peace, helping Korea grow into a globally competitive small yet strong nation." The council expressed confidence that, "During his term, President Lee will lead a major leap forward for Sejong as the administrative capital?a vision initiated by Roh Moo-hyun and completed by Lee Jaemyung?by building the presidential office and the National Assembly building in Sejong, and by fully relocating the presidential office and the National Assembly to Sejong with national consensus."
Kim Suhyeon, the standing representative, stated, "This presidential election was a historic task to judge the anti-democratic and anti-constitutional forces that were triggered by the December 3 insurrection through the vote, and to restore constitutional order and democracy." He emphasized, "With the election of President Lee Jaemyung, an era of popular sovereignty has begun, and a new Republic of Korea will be built."
