Self-Injury with a Weapon During Protest Near Gwanghwamun Square
Jongno Police Station in Seoul announced on June 2 that they had apprehended a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of possessing a weapon in a public place after he caused a disturbance by injuring himself with a weapon during a protest near Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
According to the police, at around 6:30 p.m. that day, Mr. A climbed onto a vehicle parked at the Sejong-daero intersection and stabbed himself in the abdomen with a weapon, demanding the protection of his rights as a self-employed individual. Mr. A was transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, with no threat to his life.
