View original imageThe Coast Guard is conducting a search operation after a vehicle, presumed to be carrying a family of four, fell into the sea off the coast of Jindo, South Jeolla Province.
According to Mokpo Coast Guard and other authorities, at 2:38 p.m. on June 2, a report was filed that a student, identified as A, who attended a high school in Gwangju, had lost contact with family and friends.
During the search for the missing student, the Mokpo Coast Guard and South Jeolla Police discovered that A's parents and older brother were also out of contact. Subsequent cell phone location tracking showed that their last known location was near Jindo Port in Jindo County, South Jeolla Province, at around 1:00 a.m. the previous day (June 1).
No individuals have been found as of now.
After pinpointing the presumed crash site, the Coast Guard deployed the West Sea Special Rescue Unit and other teams to conduct underwater and maritime searches near Jindo Port.
