From 8 to 9 a.m. that day, Mayor Jeong stood at the Yeoseo-dong Rotary holding a placard that read "Voting is the answer! Let's vote, everyone," appealing to citizens on their way to work to participate in the main vote.
At 11 a.m., he also held a meeting with the heads of towns, townships, and neighborhoods in the Disaster and Safety Situation Room to review overall election management and urged them to actively encourage voter turnout.
Mayor Jeong is also scheduled to conduct a solo campaign in front of City Hall at the rotary in the afternoon, targeting citizens on their way home from work. Citizens commented that it was unusual and refreshing for a local government head to personally encourage voting.
Mayor Jeong emphasized, "The presidential election is an important election that determines the future of the country," and urged, "Please make sure to exercise your precious vote, which is the rightful power of the people."
Previously, on May 27, the city visited Yeosu Technical High School to encourage first-time student voters to participate in the presidential election for the first time this year. In addition, the city is conducting a wide range of promotional activities to increase voter turnout, such as the "Voting Participation SNS Challenge."
Meanwhile, a total of 111 main polling stations have been set up in Yeosu, and voting will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 3.
