On June 2, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Kim Myungsoo visited a riverfront security unit and an air defense unit, urging them to "ensure thorough surveillance and vigilance that does not allow for enemy deception or surprise attacks."
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chairman Kim visited the Army 9th Division's riverfront security unit and the 1st Air Defense Brigade's air defense position on this day. This on-site inspection was conducted at a time when the possibility of enemy provocations is increasing, taking into account the current situation between friendly and enemy forces. The purpose was to assess the practical readiness posture focused on the field and to emphasize the eradication of safety accidents during operations and training.
Chairman Kim first visited the 9th Division's riverfront security operation site, where he received a briefing from the field commander on recent enemy activities and anticipated patterns of provocation. He also inspected all elements of the security operation, including the command and control system, surveillance and strike equipment operations, and safety measures for personnel. He instructed, "As the security unit closest to the enemy across the river, continue the tradition of complete operational records against past enemy infiltrations and unauthorized defections to the North, and ensure thorough surveillance and vigilance that does not allow for enemy deception or surprise attacks."
In addition, regarding recent safety accidents, Chairman Kim emphasized, "Internalize adherence to safety regulations for the operation of equipment at all times, and make the safety of personnel the top priority."
