Changwon Facilities Corporation Holds Environmental Cleanup for Sea Day
Collection of Marine Litter by Related Organizations, Companies, and Military Personnel
In celebration of the 30th Sea Day, the Changwon Facilities Corporation in South Gyeongsang Province organized a marine environment cleanup activity along the coastline of Jinhae Marine Park, with participation from related organizations, businesses, military personnel, and local residents.
The cleanup activity, which took place on May 31, included more than 200 participants from Changwon City, the Gyeongnam Office of Education, Jinhae Police Station, the Livestock Hygiene and Quarantine Support Headquarters, the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service, Poly Korea, GE Vernova, the Naval Education and Training Command, and local residents.
On this day, the participants collected large amounts of various waste and debris that harm the marine environment, such as Styrofoam, plastic bottles, vinyl, and synthetic resins that had washed up on the shore.
An official from the corporation stated, "We hope that this Sea Day event will raise awareness of the seriousness of marine litter and serve as an opportunity to remind everyone of the value of the ocean."
