KIOST Honors Contributors to Marine and Fisheries Development at 30th Ocean Day Ceremony
Heecheol Yang, Director of the Marine Law and Policy Research Institute, Honored with Order of Science and Technology Merit, Ungbi Medal
Recognized for Contributions to Establishing Maritime Legal Order
The Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (President: Lee Heeseung, KIOST) announced that, in celebration of the 30th Ocean Day, Heecheol Yang, Director of the Marine Law and Policy Research Institute, was awarded the Order of Science and Technology Merit, Ungbi Medal, in recognition of his contributions to strengthening Korea's maritime rights and interests and establishing the order of maritime law.
Heecheol Yang, Director of the Marine Law and Policy Research Institute, is an expert in maritime law who has served as a government representative at international conferences and organizations such as the International Seabed Authority (ISA). He has contributed to enhancing Korea's maritime diplomacy and establishing the international maritime order.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister: Kang Dohyung) held the 30th Ocean Day ceremony on May 30 at Sebitseom, Banpo, Seoul, under the theme "30 Years of Challenge, Opening the Future with the Sea!" and presented awards to those who have contributed to the development of the marine and fisheries sector.
