Yeongdeungpo-gu to Temporarily Open 'Singil Chaekmaru Culture Center'... Swimming Pool Now Open
A Multi-Purpose Cultural Space
Featuring a Library and Gymnasium
Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul will temporarily open the library and swimming pool at the ‘Singil Chaekmaru Culture Center’ (131 Singil-ro) on June 4, ahead of its full-scale operation. The center allows visitors to enjoy both reading and sports in one place.
This center is a multi-purpose cultural space equipped with a library, swimming pool, gymnasium, and book cafe. It is expected to bring new vitality to the Singil-dong area, which has lacked cultural facilities.
The library will be open on a temporary basis from June 4 to June 15, operating from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. During the temporary opening period, only reading is allowed; borrowing and returning services will not be available. Full-scale operation will begin on June 17.
The swimming pool, located on the second basement floor, features five 25-meter lanes and will offer free trial sessions for open swimming until June 30. From July 1, various aquatic programs such as regular classes, aqua aerobics, and survival swimming will officially begin. The gymnasium will also start operating sports programs such as table tennis and basketball from July 1.
The library is composed of a third-floor reading room for infants and children, a fourth-floor general reading room, and a fifth-floor multipurpose room and study zone, making it accessible to all generations. Spaces for community interaction, such as a book cafe and a music listening room, have also been established.
