Songpa District to Host 'Environment Love Festival' for Environment Day at Seokchon Lake on June 5
To mark the 30th Environment Day, Songpa District in Seoul will host the ‘Environment Love Festival’ on June 5 at the central stage area of Seokchon Lake East. This eco-friendly themed festival is organized to promote climate crisis response and the spread of a culture of carbon neutrality. Around 900 participants, including residents, environmental organizations, businesses, and visitors, are expected to attend.

View original imageThe festival will begin at 10 a.m. with a ceremony commemorating Environment Day. The event will feature a pre-ceremony performance, awards for environmental merit, and a pledge to practice environmental love. The mayor, environmental groups, and residents will share eco-friendly messages, adding significance to the occasion.
This year, five individuals and four organizations who have taken the lead in environmental activities have been selected for Environment Day merit awards. The awardees include three elementary schools from the Songpa area and a company recognized for outstanding ESG practices, reflecting the expanded roles of future generations and the private sector.
After the ceremony, until 6 p.m., there will be 16 different programs, including Green Tech experience booths, an upcycling flea market, and environmental policy promotion booths. Upcycling experience booths will offer activities such as making eco-friendly pencil cases, handmade soap, bookmarks, bottle cap keyrings, and air-purifying plant pots. Arisu and the environmental group ‘Ecohub’ will also host an event providing drinks to those who bring their own tumblers.
In addition, there will be a photo zone and screenings of the documentary series ‘Red Earth,’ allowing visitors to reflect on the meaning of Environment Day.
