Special transportation vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts and provide customized transportation services to support the mobility of people with severe disabilities, senior citizens, and other mobility disadvantaged individuals.
The city has introduced five new vehicles and completely replaced nine aging vehicles, thereby improving service quality.
The city expects that the increase in vehicles and the replacement of old vehicles will enhance user satisfaction with the "Sarangnanum Call" mobility support service for the mobility disadvantaged. "Sarangnanum Call" is a transportation welfare service designed to guarantee mobility rights and promote social participation for residents who have difficulty using public transportation, such as people with severe walking disabilities, citizens aged 65 and older, and pregnant women.
In conjunction with the 21st presidential election, the city also plans to operate special transportation services to support the voting participation of the mobility disadvantaged. Free transportation will be provided to help eligible voters with mobility challenges travel to polling stations, and the newly introduced vehicles will also be deployed for this purpose.
Nam Sideok, Director of Daejeon City's Transportation Bureau, stated, "Increasing the number of special transportation vehicles is not just about expanding the fleet, but also about laying the foundation for improving the quality of life for the mobility disadvantaged." He added, "We will continue our efforts to create a safe and convenient urban transportation environment where everyone can travel with ease."
