This meeting was organized to diagnose issues after concerns were raised at the interim report meeting for the project held on April 30, pointing out that the plan lacked a clear vision and direction.
On this day, organizations such as the Yeosu Declaration Implementation Committee and the Civic Solidarity for Public Use pointed out that, even though 11 months have passed since the start of the master plan project for the Expo site, the facility plans lack interconnectivity, making feasibility low, and there are many potential problems that could arise during operations after completion.
They also expressed the opinion that, because the plan is limited to the Expo site rather than serving as a gateway for the southern central region of the southern coast, the project is being carried out at a level of 200 million to 300 million won, rather than the originally planned 2 billion won, and insisted that a strong response is necessary.
Previously, Yeosu City and civic groups held the first meeting to discuss countermeasures on the 9th, and on the 15th, met with Hwang Hakbeom, Vice President of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority. They have repeatedly proposed a temporary suspension of the master plan project and reinforcement of the project team.
A city official stated, "We will continue to provide opportunities to gather opinions from civic groups so that the public and private sectors can communicate continuously, and we will make active efforts to ensure that citizens' opinions are reflected in the master plan for the Expo site."
