Gwangju Chamber of Commerce Launches Company-Youth Connection Project for Local Home Appliance Firms
Joint Support from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Gwangju City
On May 29, the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that it will officially launch the "Home Appliance NEXT: Company-Youth Connection Project" in collaboration with young talent, aiming to drive technological innovation and enhance market competitiveness among local home appliance companies.
The Connection Project is a sub-program of the "Regional Innovation Project," which is jointly supported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Gwangju City. It was designed to address both the structural characteristics of the local home appliance industry and the youth employment issue at the same time.
This initiative is a hands-on work experience program in which young people work together with home appliance companies in the Gwangju area to solve real research and development (R&D) and marketing challenges. It is drawing significant attention because it offers young participants opportunities to develop their professional skills, while providing companies with practical solutions and fresh, innovative ideas.
Participating youth will complete about five months of specialized training, such as responding to industrial structural changes, and receive professional job education in either R&D or marketing. Afterward, they will tackle actual assignments proposed by the companies. Participating companies can suggest tasks based on their own needs, such as new product development, technology advancement, market analysis, and digital promotion, enabling genuine collaboration with young talent. Because this structure goes beyond simple work experience and focuses on joint problem-solving between companies and youth, high satisfaction and tangible results are expected.
Han Sangwon, Chairman of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, "From a company's perspective, this initiative allows us to secure practical solutions that reflect the latest trends and the perspectives of young talent. For young people, it is a valuable opportunity to directly experience the real challenges faced by local companies, thereby increasing their employment prospects. In particular, we look forward to active interest and participation from companies with assignments in R&D and marketing."
