Siheung Senior Citizens Committee Open Recruitment Until June 13
Reflecting Seniors' Voices in Municipal Administration
...Committee to Be Formed with Around 50 Members
On May 29, the city of Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, announced that it will publicly recruit members for the "Siheung Senior Citizens Committee," which is designed to reflect the voices of seniors in municipal administration, from June 2 to June 13.
This committee is a "senior citizen participatory governance" model in which residents aged 60 and older can directly propose policies, which are then developed into official policies through expert review and administrative collaboration. Starting this year, Siheung plans to actively operate the committee according to a three-year operational plan.
The recruitment is open to seniors aged 60 and older who reside in Siheung. The city plans to select approximately 50 members through an interview process that will evaluate applicants based on their experience and policy proposals for seniors.
Selected members will serve on the committee for the next three years, during which they will identify and propose policies in three areas: senior employment, health and leisure, and care safety nets. They will also participate in related on-site inspections when necessary. The proposed policies will be reviewed by experts and relevant departments and are planned to be incorporated into actual municipal projects.
For more information, please refer to the announcement posted in the "Notices" section of the Siheung City Hall website or contact the Senior Welfare Division at City Hall.
