The recipients were selected based on recommendations from 18 administrative welfare centers and five comprehensive social welfare centers, targeting vulnerable households with incomes at or below 100% of the median income.
Seo-gu Honors prepared customized gifts for each household, including a 150,000 won Onnuri gift certificate, a 50,000 won cultural gift certificate, and summer bedding worth 100,000 won, totaling 300,000 won per household. Members personally visited the households to deliver the gifts, further emphasizing the value of sharing.
One of the recipient families shared, "Thanks to the surprise visit from Santa, my child created an unforgettable memory," and added, "The warm hearts of our kind neighbors brought us great comfort."
A Seo-gu Honors member who delivered the gifts said, "Giving is not just about sharing material things, but about conveying our hearts," and added, "Seeing the child's bright smile, I actually felt like I was the one who received the greater gift."
Kim Ikang, the head of Seo-gu District, who attended the gift-giving ceremony, stated, "In May, a month that reminds us of the meaning of family, I will do my best to make Seo-gu a warm and kind city where all children and families can smile together."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu, in collaboration with the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, launched the Seo-gu Honors group of major donors in November last year. To date, 80 members have donated a total of approximately 2.8 billion won.
Seo-gu Honors has been steadily carrying out the 012 Partners project to realize "Zero Welfare Blind Spots, 12 Happy Months in Seo-gu," starting with the multicultural family maternal home visit project, as well as providing scholarships for self-supporting youth and youth caregivers, and gifting tandem bikes to the visually impaired.
