This Year’s Gyeryong Military Culture Festival to Open on September 17... Moved Up by Two Weeks
Held for Five Days at the Gyeryongdae Airstrip and Throughout Gyeryong City
The Gyeryong City Foundation for Culture and Tourism (Chairman Lee Eungwoo) announced on May 28 that the 15th Gyeryong Military Culture Festival will be held for five days from September 17 to 21 at the Gyeryongdae Airstrip and throughout the city of Gyeryong.
The festival, which has traditionally been held every October, has been moved up by about two weeks this year following discussions with the Army Ground Forces Festival Planning Group. This change was made because National Foundation Day and the Chuseok holiday overlap this year, resulting in an extended holiday period.
This year’s festival will be held jointly with the Army's "Ground Forces Festival." It is expected to go beyond a simple local event, adding symbolic significance by promoting global remembrance culture and delivering a message of peace.
A variety of programs will be offered at the Gyeryongdae Airstrip, allowing visitors to experience military culture. In addition, various venues across the city will showcase unique local culture and provide opportunities for citizens to come together.
Building on 14 years of experience in organizing the festival, the foundation plans to introduce more creative and distinctive new programs this year. There will also be a variety of changes, including the rearrangement of festival facilities and sophisticated nighttime events.
Chairman Lee Eungwoo stated, "I hope this festival will not only revitalize the local economy and serve as a venue for civic unity, but also provide an opportunity for Gyeryong City to stand tall on the world stage as the 'capital of national defense.' Together with more than 500 public officials, we will do our utmost to ensure the festival’s success."
Meanwhile, the Gyeryong Military Culture Festival has established itself as the city’s signature event and has become a truly nationwide festival of military culture, attracting countless visitors every year.
