Democratic Party Impersonation Banner 'No-Show' Incident in Seosan...Criminal Complaint Filed
Two Companies Suffer Damages of 1.23 Million Won and 400,000 Won
Democratic Party: "We Will Pursue Civil and Criminal Liability to the Fullest Extent for Unauthorized Misuse"
The Seosan office of the Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 27th that it had filed a criminal complaint against an individual identified as Park Juhong (alias), an administrative officer, on charges of forging documents in the party's name, impersonating a party member, and falsely commissioning the production of banners from local advertising companies.
According to the office, Park impersonated himself as "Democratic Party of Korea administrative officer Park Juhong (alias)" and repeatedly requested the production of banners from victimized companies by sending them fake business card images and fraudulent contract confirmation documents.
The content of the banners included politically sensitive phrases such as "The Democratic Party will save the economy ruined by the Yoon Suk-yeol administration," but the office clarified that these statements had no connection whatsoever to the Democratic Party of Korea.
The two companies that received calls from Park suffered damages of approximately 1.23 million won and 400,000 won, respectively. In one case, a company completed the entire production of the banners, only to lose contact with the accused and incur direct financial loss.
The Seosan office of the Democratic Party of Korea condemned these acts of impersonation and deception as "serious crimes that go beyond personal mischief, disrupt the political order, and cause economic harm to the local community." The office formally submitted a complaint to the local police station, calling for a thorough investigation and strong punishment.
The office also stated, "We will pursue civil and criminal liability to the fullest extent for any unauthorized misuse of the party's name or documents," adding that they are considering legal support for the affected companies and plan to strengthen their document authentication system to prevent similar incidents in the future.
