Wanju County to Operate 'Culture and Arts Education Program' Starting May 31
Recruiting 20 Children on a First-Come, First-Served Basis
Wanju County in North Jeolla Province announced on May 27 that it will operate a 'Culture and Arts Education Program' from May 31 to August 12, offering 20 children the opportunity to experience traditional woodworking culture.
This program is organized by the Wanju County Sonamu Workshop, which was selected for the 2025 Dreamdarac Culture School Support Project. The Central Library and Samnye Community Child Center are collaborating to introduce traditional woodworking culture to children in Wanju County and to provide opportunities to foster creativity and cultural and artistic sensibility.
The classes will be held a total of 12 times: every Saturday for nine sessions from May 31 to July 26, and additionally on August 5, August 7, and August 12. The program will cover basic woodworking theory, how to use woodworking equipment, and recycled woodworking techniques, with activities such as expressing, imagining, and practicing, so that children can showcase their individuality.
Kim Eunhee, Director of the Library Project Office, said, "I hope this will be a meaningful time for children to experience traditional woodworking, feel the value of our culture, and develop creativity and expressive skills," adding, "We will continue to strive to enhance children's cultural sensitivity and self-esteem by providing various cultural and artistic experiences in the future."
Those interested in participating can apply via the link or QR code provided in the Reading Culture Event section on the Wanju County Central Library website. For more details, inquiries can be made by phone.
