Previously, users had to make a phone call or install a separate public app to access the service, but now they can call a vehicle directly through the widely used KakaoT app.
This service was promoted as part of the 'Public Experience-Oriented Private Innovation Project,' which is overseen by the Digital Platform Government Committee and the Ministry of Science and ICT, and operated by the National Information Society Agency.
The city prepared the service in collaboration with the Mobility Support Center for the Transportation-Disadvantaged, Konatus, and Kakao Mobility. After a pilot operation that began in March, the service was stabilized and has now been officially introduced.
The city is responsible for service operation and policy support. Kakao Mobility enables users to call vehicles within the KakaoT app, while Konatus, a mobility solutions specialist, is in charge of building the mobility support platform for the transportation-disadvantaged and integrating it with local government systems.
In addition to this service, the city plans to strengthen infrastructure, such as expanding vehicles and garages, to enhance mobility rights for the transportation-disadvantaged. The city also intends to gather citizens' opinions to develop better services.
Kim Kyungman, Director of the AI-Based Policy Division at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "This service is especially meaningful because it represents a digital public innovation achieved through cooperation between the central government, local governments, and the private sector."
Nam Sideok, Director of the Transportation Bureau of Daejeon City, said, "We will continue to collect citizens' opinions and do our utmost to guarantee the mobility rights of the transportation-disadvantaged so that they can travel without worry."
