Prosecution Urges Insurrection Case Court to Issue 'Secure Phone Server Search Warrant'
The prosecution has submitted an opinion to the court handling the insurrection charges against former President Yoon Sukyeol, urging the issuance of a search and seizure warrant for the secure phone servers used by Yoon and other individuals involved in the case.
According to legal sources on May 23, the prosecution submitted an opinion to the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ji Guyoun), emphasizing the necessity of issuing a search and seizure warrant for the secure phone servers within the Presidential Security Service and related locations.
The prosecution reportedly submitted this opinion to the court, stating that the call records from secure phones used by key figures during the martial law crisis are essential to prove the charges against former President Yoon.
However, as prosecutors are not allowed to request search and seizure warrants for cases that have already been indicted, it is understood that the request was made directly to the court.
Meanwhile, the police special investigation unit announced that on the same day, they had voluntarily obtained and secured the secure phone server records of former President Yoon, former Presidential Security Service Chief Park Jongjun, and Deputy Chief Kim Sunghoon.
