Asan City Creates School Forest at Dogo Elementary...Expected to Foster Emotional Growth
36 Trees and 466 Shrubs Planted with a Budget of 60 Million Won
On May 23, the city of Asan in South Chungcheong Province announced that it has created a school forest by utilizing unused space within Dogo Elementary School.
The school forest was established to promote students' emotional stability, provide environmental education, reduce fine dust, and mitigate the urban heat island effect.
The city invested a total project budget of 60 million won (36 million won from the provincial government and 24 million won from the city budget) to plant 36 trees and 466 shrubs.
Additionally, a walking trail was created using natural stone slabs, and outdoor tables were installed to transform a corner of the school grounds into a "Corner Forest."
The principal of Dogo Elementary School said, "I am very pleased that an environment has been created where children can grow together with nature," and added, "We plan to use the school forest for a variety of educational activities in the future."
