Air Busan Returns as Ulsan Airport's Leading Airline... Positive Signal for Regional Aviation Industry
The skies above Ulsan Airport, which had been closed for a while, are reopening.
Air Busan, which used to be responsible for the region's air routes, has returned.
On May 23, Air Busan (CEO Jung Byungsub) officially announced that it will resume regular flights on the Ulsan-Jeju route starting July 11. This resumption comes about two years and four months after flights were suspended at the end of March 2023. The airline plans to operate two round-trip flights per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Since launching regular flights on the Ulsan-Gimpo and Ulsan-Jeju routes in November 2017, Air Busan has transported a cumulative total of approximately 2.2 million passengers through March 2023, achieving a 55% market share at Ulsan Airport and establishing itself as the airport's leading airline.
The resumption of Air Busan flights is expected to significantly improve travel convenience for local residents and have a positive impact on restoring passenger demand at Ulsan Airport, which had been stagnant. In particular, with the resumption coming ahead of the busy summer travel season, the news is welcomed by both travelers and the local industry.
