Infineon Collaborates with LG Electronics to Develop SDV Safety and Security Solutions
Announcement of Strategic Partnership to Accelerate SDV
Synergy from the Integration of Semiconductor and Automotive Technologies
Infineon Technologies announced on May 22 that it will collaborate with LG Electronics to develop solutions essential for the safety and security of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
Through this partnership, LG Electronics and Infineon aim to jointly develop core technologies for SDVs, seeking to advance automotive safety, efficiency, and intelligence. The combination of LG Electronics' automotive technology and Infineon's semiconductor expertise is drawing attention as it may provide a crucial foundation for realizing advanced SDV platforms.
Initially, the two companies plan to develop an 'xDC (Cross Domain Controller) platform' based on the 'AURIX™ microcontroller' to drive innovation in SDVs. This platform integrates data from various domains such as in-vehicle infotainment, autonomous driving (AD)/advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and vehicle motion control (VMO), and provides optimized data routing to enhance vehicle performance and safety.
In particular, Infineon's 'TRAVEO™ T2G microcontroller' is used to develop cost-effective and scalable zone controllers. Zone controllers manage physical areas within the vehicle and support the integration of sensors, actuators, and peripheral devices. They also perform various functions, including local gateway capabilities via Ethernet backbone, serving as multi-domain data hubs, and supporting service-oriented architecture. Zone controllers are expected to become a core technology in the SDV era, enabling the realization of intelligent vehicle architectures in conjunction with HPC platforms.
