First, at the ASEAN Strategy Workshop held in Hanoi over two days starting May 21, discussions focused on business strategies and localization plans for submarine projects in response to the spread of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and renewable energy. The workshop was attended by LS Cable & System executives, as well as representatives from key affiliates such as LS Eco Energy and LS Marine Solution, who reviewed the expansion of local production infrastructure and implementation systems. In particular, participation in the Vietnam-Singapore ultra-long-distance HVDC submarine power grid construction project was addressed as a core agenda item.
During the workshop, LS Cable & System also met with Le Man Hung, Chairman of PetroVietnam, the state-run energy company of Vietnam, to discuss support measures such as tax incentives and government subsidies needed for the construction of a submarine cable plant.
In addition, CEO Goon-Kyu Koo was invited to and attended a groundbreaking ceremony dinner on May 21 for a 2 trillion won resort development project led by the Trump Organization. The invitation was extended as a gesture of appreciation for LS Cable & System's investment in a U.S. submarine cable plant.
