"Voting is the Future"... Geumcheon-gu Mobilizes All Efforts to Boost Voter Turnout
Delivering a Friendly and Positive Image with District Mascot "Geumnarae"
Encouraging Voting through Various Promotional Materials and Official Social Media Channels
Geumcheon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon), has launched proactive initiatives to boost voter turnout ahead of the 21st presidential election.
On May 21, Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon held a voter encouragement performance together with the district's mascot, Geumnarae. Mayor Yoo stated, "By participating in the vote, residents can choose not only the future of Geumcheon-gu but also of the Republic of Korea," and added, "We will do our utmost to support residents in exercising their valuable rights."
The district is also carrying out promotional activities using Geumnarae. Posters, banners, and other materials featuring Geumnarae holding a ballot marking tool and voting are being used to inform residents of the importance of voting and to naturally encourage participation.
Posters and banners have been installed along major roads, near Anyangcheon, and in other high-traffic areas. Banners have also been placed at each neighborhood community center, and banners have been attached to administrative vehicles of the centers.
The district explained that the image of Geumnarae with the message "Vote with Geumnarae! Wonderful Geumcheon-gu Residents~" is intended to convey a friendly and positive image to residents, thereby maximizing the effect of encouraging voter participation.
In addition, the district is encouraging residents to vote through online channels such as its website and official social media accounts.
Furthermore, a voice call connection message has been set up on administrative phone lines at the district office and neighborhood community centers: "Early voting for the 21st presidential election will take place for two days from May 29 to May 30, and the main vote will be held on June 3."
The message "Please cast your precious vote" is played while residents wait for their calls to connect, so that they are reminded to participate in the election. Voter encouragement messages will also be sent to residents who have agreed to receive text messages.
In local apartment complexes, large stores, and traditional markets, targeted promotional announcements will be made at least once the day before early voting and the main election, and at least three times on the day itself.
