The company also stated that it will enhance service quality by increasing the number of vehicles in operation.
This measure is expected to greatly improve transportation convenience for residents of Hoecheon New Town, where occupancy is now in full swing.
In particular, a new long-distance route will be introduced during commuting hours, connecting Hoecheon New Town to Deokgye Station, Yangju Station, and Seoul's Nowon Station. This route will depart at 6:30 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 5:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. Passengers can select their boarding and drop-off stops using the "Route Tokbus" feature in the "Tokta" app.
As with the existing on-demand Tokbus, users can enter their departure and destination points in the app to call a bus in real time and receive information on boarding locations and vehicle details.
For this expansion, two 25-seat Elec City Town buses and three 11-seat Solati vehicles will be added, bringing the total to five vehicles operating in the Okjeong New Town, Hoecheon New Town, and Hoeamsaji areas. The Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation also plans to introduce Tokbus service to western Yangju (Baekseok-eup, Gwangjeok-myeon, Eunhyeon-myeon, Nam-myeon, and Jangheung-myeon) in June.
Min Kyungseon, President of the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, stated, "In addition to expanding the Tokbus service area and increasing the number of vehicles in Yangju, we plan to introduce 80 additional Tokbus vehicles across Gyeonggi Province and expand operations to a total of 20 municipalities. We will continue our efforts to provide more comfortable transportation services for residents."
Currently, the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation operates 231 Tokbus vehicles in 16 cities and counties across Gyeonggi Province.
