Korean Cancer Association and Yuhan Foundation Launch "Amjungmosaek Campaign Season 2"
Integrated Support Program Launched
for Families of Cancer Patients
The Korean Cancer Association and the Yuhan Foundation announced on the 21st that they have launched the "Amjungmosaek Campaign Season 2," an integrated support initiative for families of cancer patients.
The Amjungmosaek Campaign is a nationwide cancer eradication movement that the Korean Cancer Association has been conducting since the 2000s. It was launched to alleviate the economic and psychological difficulties faced by cancer patients and to improve their treatment environment. This year’s Season 2 campaign expands beyond the previous patient-centered approach to operate as an integrated support program for both patients and their families.
This campaign aims to alleviate the economic burdens that arise during the cancer treatment process, prevent the risk of family dissolution, and lay the foundation for building new families. It provides economic support for cancer patient families in crisis (including young family caregivers, single-parent families, and grandparent-grandchild families), offers medical expense support for cancer patients in blind spots, supports fertility preservation for cancer patients, and assists 2030 lung cancer patients. Through these efforts, the campaign helps young cancer patients with pregnancy, childbirth, and a swift return to society.
Lee Minhyeok, president of the Korean Cancer Association, stated, "Cancer is not just an individual experience but a collective challenge that families and society must overcome together. With Season 2 of this campaign, we aim to expand our support beyond cancer patients to their families, helping to ensure that the basic unit of society?the family?does not fall apart by supporting both cancer treatment and livelihoods." He added, "We will contribute to building healthy families and a healthy society through multifaceted support for overcoming cancer."
Kim Joongsu, chairman of the Yuhan Foundation, said, "Through this campaign, we expect to help alleviate the multidimensional burdens that arise during the cancer treatment journey and to create an environment where cancer patients and their families can focus on treatment." He continued, "We will continue our efforts to support cancer patients in medical blind spots and to encourage the lives of their families."
