View original imageOn May 20, Hampyeong County in Jeonnam announced that it had participated in the Shanghai International Food Expo and signed a $1 million export business agreement (MOU) for agricultural specialty products with the local distribution company Shanghai Tianyi Trading Co., Ltd.
Through this agreement, Hampyeong County has secured a foundation for exporting local agricultural specialty processed products, such as seasoned laver and powdered vinegar, to China. In particular, the county selected export items that reflect the characteristics of the Chinese market, where there is high demand for health foods, and has been receiving positive feedback from local consumers.
The county is scheduled to participate in the expo until May 21. It is actively promoting the excellence and competitiveness of Hampyeong's agricultural specialty products through tasting events and product demonstrations for buyers from more than 70 countries around the world, and is also conducting a number of practical export consultations.
A representative from Shanghai Tianyi Trading Co., Ltd. stated, "Seasoned laver and agricultural specialty processed products from Hampyeong are highly competitive in both quality and taste," adding, "Starting with this agreement, we will pursue ongoing cooperation and expansion of exports."
A Hampyeong County official said, "The Shanghai Food Expo is an important opportunity to understand global food trends and explore possibilities for entering overseas markets," adding, "This business agreement marks the first step for Hampyeong's agricultural products to enter the global market, and we plan to continue proactive export marketing and efforts to develop overseas sales channels."
