Seo-gu, Gwangju (Mayor Kim Ikang) conducted on-site safety inspections of disaster-prone areas in preparation for natural disasters during the summer.
According to Seo-gu on the 19th, the inspections were carried out to prevent loss of life and property damage from heavy rainfall and typhoons. The inspections took place at the Seo-changcheon riverside promenade and the area around 51-1 San, Pungam-dong. The focus was on checking the criteria and methods for preemptively restricting access to the riverside promenade, the installation status of warning signs, and the management of facilities.

The district will thoroughly check the operational status of facilities, as well as the management of drainage channels and sewer pipes, to prepare for the rainy season.
Previously, on the 9th, the district held a summer natural disaster countermeasures meeting presided over by Mayor Kim Ikang. During the meeting, the district reviewed detailed action plans and cooperation systems for each of its 21 departments, establishing a disaster response system aimed at achieving "zero human casualties."
Mayor Kim stated, "Based on the principle that prevention is the best response to natural disasters, we will establish a proactive disaster management system to ensure that not a single resident is harmed." He added, "We will focus administrative efforts on making Seo-gu the safest district by implementing thorough monitoring and a swift response system, especially in vulnerable areas."
