It has been found that the amount of physical activity among middle and high school students in the Jeonnam region has increased, and healthy eating habits have become established, leading to significant improvements in overall health indicators.
On May 16, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced the results of the "2024 (20th) Youth Health Behavior Survey," stating that the overall health behaviors of local youth have shown steady and positive changes.

The rate of practicing muscle-strengthening exercises three or more days a week was 25.9%, and the proportion of students who engaged in at least 60 minutes of physical activity five or more days a week was 19.4%. Both figures were higher than the national average.
There was also a clear improvement in eating habits. The rate of fast food consumption three or more times a week was 24.3%, the lowest in the country compared to the national average of 28.9%. The rate of sweetened beverage consumption was 64.1%, maintaining the national average level and demonstrating the effect of practicing healthy eating habits.
The Provincial Office of Education plans to continue strengthening integrated health promotion education under the slogan "Strong Body, Healthy Mind." To this end, it will continue to analyze youth health behaviors, centering on a support group for promoting physical activity composed of teachers in schools, and expand initiatives such as the "Stretching Project," fitness classes, and low-carbon green meals.
Superintendent Kim Daejung stated, "Student health is the foundation of education and is directly linked to quality of life," and added, "We will continue to create healthy and safe schools for all through student-centered health education and various activities."
