Yangsan City proudly secured first place in Group 5, which manages a large number of emission facilities. This achievement is attributed to Yangsan City's systematic environmental management and administrative expertise.
In 2024, Yangsan City inspected a total of 526 environmental pollutant emission facilities. The city enhanced the autonomous environmental management capabilities of businesses by providing mentoring for environmental technicians and distributing environmental management checklists. This shift established a guidance and inspection system focused on prevention rather than enforcement, earning high praise.
Additionally, the city implemented a wide-area air quality improvement project for small and medium-sized enterprises with a total project cost of 4.2 billion KRW. Through this initiative, Yangsan City covered 90% of the costs for replacing outdated pollution prevention facilities and improving equipment. The city also strengthened post-management for facilities with a history of administrative penalties, working to prevent repeat violations and ensuring effective environmental management.
Such systematic and practical approaches have led to tangible environmental improvements that citizens can feel. In fact, complaints related to air pollution and odors decreased by more than 68% compared to the previous year (2023), demonstrating Yangsan City's potential to become an eco-friendly city.
