Kim Wonjung of Muan County Council Urges Swift Establishment of Distributed Energy Infrastructure
'5-Minute Free Speech'...
"Measures Needed to Establish the Benefit-Sharing System"
On May 13, at the 301st extraordinary session of the Muan County Council, Assemblyman Kim Wonjung proposed a plan to promote the "Muan-style distributed energy" through a 5-minute free speech.
Kim stated, "It is time for our region to seek new energy strategies to prepare for a sustainable future," and explained the background of his remarks by saying, "As seen in the recent conflict over the wind power transmission network in our area, it is urgent to establish a distributed energy infrastructure that allows electricity to be consumed directly in the regions where it is produced."

He further suggested, "As another practical measure to promote distributed energy, the renewable energy benefit-sharing system must also evolve to the next level," and proposed, "For the benefit-sharing system to take root in our region, we must prepare effective support measures such as expanding resident participation, implementing a pension system, and easing entry regulations."
Kim emphasized, "Building distributed energy infrastructure is not just about solving energy issues; it is a core strategy to foster new growth industries in the region and enhance regional sustainability," and added, "We must swiftly establish measures for building distributed energy infrastructure and work harder to design a better future."
