On May 15, the Chungnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services announced that it had completed the shipment of the second export batch of 16 tons of Hyangjinju at the headquarters of Saedeulman Agricultural Corporation located in Gobuk-myeon, Seosan City.
This follows the first shipment that took place in early April.
Hyangjinju is a regionally customized variety optimized for the climate and environment of the Chungnam area, and has received high evaluations in quality indicators such as glossiness, stickiness, protein content, and the percentage of whole grains.
In order to ensure the rapid expansion and consistent quality of Hyangjinju, the Research and Extension Services has been systematically managing the cultivation area and, starting this year, has implemented the 'Ordinary Implementation System' to preemptively prevent quality degradation caused by indiscriminate expansion.
Furthermore, the agency aims to establish a virtuous cycle that leads to variety differentiation, systematic quality management, improved consumer satisfaction, enhanced price competitiveness, and increased income for farmers.
Kim Hakheon, Director of Research and Development at the Chungnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services, stated, "The export of Hyangjinju is a representative success model in which research and development achievements have directly led to increased income for farmers and strengthened the competitiveness of local industries. Going forward, we will continue to focus our research capabilities on developing Chungnam-specialized rice varieties that are suitable for the region's natural environment and have marketability and export potential."
