Naver Establishes CEO-Led Tech Business Division... "Strengthening Healthcare Business"
Following the Establishment of the Strategic Business and Strategic Investment Divisions
"Strengthening Competitiveness in Healthcare and Pioneering New Markets"
Choi Inhyeok, Former COO, Appointed as Head of the Tech Business Division
Naver has established a new Tech Business Division to strengthen its competitiveness in the healthcare sector and to pioneer new markets.
On May 15, Naver announced that it will launch the Tech Business Division under the direct supervision of the CEO on May 19. Choi Inhyeok, former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Naver, has been nominated to lead the new division.
The Tech Business Division will seek new business opportunities in regions such as India and Spain, which are considered to have high growth potential. In these regions, Naver will explore business areas by combining technology and business. In the healthcare sector, the company aims to drive business growth not only by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology, but also through strategic technology investments.
Choi Inhyeok, the nominee for head of the Tech Business Division, joined Naver as part of its early development management team. According to Naver, he possesses experience and understanding in development, service operations, business, and management. Choi is credited with strengthening Naver’s search services, improving service operation efficiency, securing technological capabilities, and discovering new business areas.
Naver stated, "We decided to recruit Choi Inhyeok as CEO because we believe that leadership with extensive experience and expertise is necessary to continue successful challenges in new global markets and the healthcare sector."
With the start of the second term under CEO Choi Sooyoun, Naver has made the discovery of new business opportunities in the global market, centered on its 'On-Service AI' strategy, a major priority. To this end, the company carried out an organizational restructuring in April. The newly established Strategic Business Division, led by Chae Sunjoo, is responsible for pioneering new markets in the Middle East and Africa, focusing on business-to-government (B2G) capabilities. The Strategic Investment Division, led by Kim Namsun, is seeking growth drivers through consumer-to-consumer (C2C) transactions and investments in North American startups, with a focus on North America.
A Naver representative stated, "With the addition of the new Tech Business Division, we plan to accelerate our efforts to take on new challenges in new markets and new fields, focusing on a total of three divisions."
