"Five-Minute Speech": Proposal to Rebrand with Flower Paths
On May 13, Jung Eunkyung, a member of the Muan County Council in South Jeolla Province, proposed a "plan to revitalize aging tourist destinations through flowers" during a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 301st extraordinary meeting.

View original imageJung explained, "The status of major tourist attractions such as Hoesan Baekryeonji is not what it used to be," adding, "In reality, these sites are at a crossroads of stagnation and decline due to a decrease in visitors, aging facilities, and the absence of killer content."
She further pointed out, "The reason for this is the lack of stories and experiences that can satisfy the emotions and expectations of tourists," and emphasized, "We are now in an era where only destinations with emotional content that make people want to return can survive."
She continued, "It is now time to strengthen emotion-driven soft content using flowers," and added, "Only by rebranding tourist destinations through seasonal theme gardens and unique flower paths can we increase the revisit rate and ensure sustainability."
She also stressed, "If we create a historical and cultural tourism belt from the birthplace of Choui Seonsa to Bongdae Fortress, and offer seasonal flower content along with nighttime landscape lighting, Muan can become a place where people want to stay longer, not just visit for a day."
Jung Eunkyung concluded her 5-minute free speech by saying, "It is now time to adorn Muan's tourist sites with flowers and illuminate them with light," and added, "Muan, colored with flowers, will attract even more visitors."
