Installation of Vertical Greening, Walking Paths, and Rest Facilities
Daejeon City announced that it will complete the "Indoor and Rooftop Garden Construction Project Utilizing Idle Spaces in Public Facilities within the City Center" in July 2025.
This project, which is being carried out to improve the urban environment and respond to climate change, aims to expand indoor and outdoor green spaces and provide citizens with comfortable places to relax.
The project is being implemented at two locations? the Patent Court and Daejeon Urban Corporation? with a total investment of 1 billion KRW, supported by the Special Account for Regional Balanced Development.
The gardens will feature indoor vertical greening, planting infrastructure, walking paths and rest facilities, as well as the planting of trees and flowering plants, with completion targeted for July 2025.
After completion, each institution will take over the facilities through a transfer process and will be responsible for their own maintenance and management.
Park Youngcheol, Director of Greenery and Agricultural Life at Daejeon City, stated, "Garden creation is one of the important ways to enhance urban resilience and enrich citizens' lives," adding, "We hope this project will serve as an opportunity to showcase the potential of green spaces within the city center."
