Hyundai Engineering & Construction to Apply Wooden Modular Technology to Apartment Auxiliary Facilities
On May 15, Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced that it had signed a business agreement with Gonggan Jaejakso to expand the adoption of wooden modular OSC (Off-Site Construction) technology. Gonggan Jaejakso is a company specializing in eco-friendly wooden modular housing, based on robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
With this agreement, Hyundai Engineering & Construction will incorporate Gonggan Jaejakso's technology into auxiliary facilities within apartment complexes it builds. OSC refers to a construction method in which components are manufactured off-site and then transported to the construction site for assembly, thereby increasing construction efficiency and being recognized as an environmentally friendly method.

The technology will first be introduced at the Hillstate Yongin Mark Valley site currently under construction in Yongin. It will be gradually applied to smaller facilities such as kids' stations and bicycle storage facilities, where design standardization is easier. The technology will also be applied to standalone auxiliary facilities such as daycare centers and senior centers. A Hyundai Engineering & Construction representative stated, "By applying smart construction technology based on eco-friendly materials, we aim to achieve both construction efficiency and environmental value."
