The Gumi City Council in Gyeongbuk has opened its 287th extraordinary session, which will run for six days from May 14 to May 19, 2025, officially commencing its legislative activities.

View original imageDuring this session, a total of 25 agenda items will be submitted for in-depth review by each standing committee, including 20 ordinance bills?12 of which have been proposed by council members?and three proposals for the management of public property.
On May 14, the first day of the session, prior to the first plenary meeting, council member Jang Mikyung delivered a five-minute free speech, stating, "Juvenile crime and school violence are becoming increasingly serious," and emphasized the urgent need for effective preventive measures at the city level in Gumi.
On May 15, when the standing committee meetings are scheduled, each committee will review the relevant agenda items. The Industrial and Construction Committee, after reviewing the ordinance bills, plans to visit the site of the 'Gumi City Drone Liberalization Zone Project' to exchange opinions with stakeholders and discuss future policy directions.
At the second plenary meeting on May 19, final decisions will be made on the agenda items that have passed through the standing committees, marking the conclusion of this extraordinary session.
In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman Yang Jinoh called on the executive branch to conduct thorough inspections and responses to ensure that the '2025 Asian Athletics Championships,' which will be held in Gumi starting May 27, 2025, are prepared without any setbacks.
