Muju County Accepting Applications for 'Autonomous Purchase System and Support Limit Cap System' Participation
Applications accepted until May 23
Ten strategic items including apples and grapes
Muju County in North Jeolla Province is accepting applications for participation in the 'Autonomous Purchase System and Support Limit Cap System,' which is being implemented as part of the 2025 Agricultural Product Price Stabilization Support Project, until May 23.
According to the county on May 14, the 'Autonomous Purchase System and Support Limit Cap System' is designed to promote the distribution of agricultural products and stabilize prices. Under this system, prices are set only for strategic items when purchasing agricultural products, and the support limit is differentiated based on the loss rate when purchasing the raw products.
The eligible applicants are farmers who have resided in Muju County for more than one year. They must visit the local Agricultural Cooperative (Nonghyup) Distribution Center with a certificate of agricultural business registration to apply.
The county's ten strategic items include: ▲apples (Hongro, Fuji), ▲grapes (Campbell, MBA, Jinok, Shine Muscat), ▲fresh Cheonma, ▲watermelons (Heukmi, Black Winner), ▲minor grains (millet, sorghum, foxtail millet), ▲bokbunja (Korean black raspberry), ▲wild grapes, ▲summer strawberries, ▲Cheonhwang jujube, and ▲agricultural products grown under contract for planned supply production.
Gwak Minchae, head of the Rural Development Team in the Rural Vitality Division at Muju County Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Starting this year, if the profit rate for the Autonomous Purchase System and Support Limit Cap System exceeds minus 20 percent, the self-burden rate for the project operator, Nonghyup, will be 30 percent. In addition, the calculation method for the unit price of self-sorting distribution support has been changed, and now 25 percent of the total fees for sorting and packaging, transportation, and unloading will be supported."
The county enacted and promulgated an ordinance on agricultural product price stabilization support in December 2018 (extended for five years in 2023) and, based on a 6.5 billion won agricultural product price stabilization fund, operates the following: ▲Autonomous Purchase System and Support Limit Cap System, ▲Self-Sorting Distribution Support (with differential application linked to sales price), and ▲Agricultural Product Collection Centers.
Last year, a total of 4,907 farming households received support for 9,289 tons of agricultural products, amounting to over 5.5 billion won in project assistance.
