View original imageOn May 13, Jeonju University announced that it had signed a business agreement at the university's main building, with Funit Co., Ltd. co-CEOs Choi Inhyeong and Moon Junseok, Jeonju University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Director Kim Sangjin, and Defense Industry Research Institute Director Kim Youngsoo in attendance.
Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to cooperate in various fields for mutual development, including: discovering R&D projects and conducting joint research to foster the defense industry, as well as sharing infrastructure and exchanging personnel necessary for research activities.
Funit Co., Ltd., a company specializing in the metaverse, is jointly developing an XR military training simulation system with the Defense Technology Institute (DTI) of Thailand. After completing the first phase of the project, the company signed an export contract worth $700,000 (approximately KRW 1 billion) and is currently proceeding with the second phase.
In addition, this year, Funit Co., Ltd. successfully demonstrated XR military training systems equipped with AI vision technology at a simulation center under the Malaysian Ministry of Defense and is now working on commercialization. Based on these achievements, the company is expanding into the global defense market, focusing on ASEAN countries.
Kim Sangjin, Director of Jeonju University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, stated, "With this agreement as an opportunity, we will do our utmost to support and strengthen research competitiveness in advanced technologies in the defense industry through joint research and project implementation."
Choi Inhyeong, CEO of Funit Co., Ltd., said, "We will continue to cooperate with mutual respect through various programs so that both parties can grow together."
