View original imageGwangju Christian Hospital announced on the 14th that it conducted a 9-night, 10-day mission trip to Kenya, Africa, which concluded on the 9th.
The purpose of this visit to Kenya was to attend the dedication service for the church built in commemoration of the 120th anniversary of Gwangju Christian Hospital, to establish a cooperative network with local medical institutions, and to develop an African mission model for Gwangju Christian Hospital.
The participants included Hong Geonyoung, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology; Ko Youngchun, Head of the Department of Pulmonology; Kim Taehyun, Deputy Head of the Department of Endocrinology; Bong Youngmi, Head of the Nursing Department; Jo Soonrye, Chief Nurse; Park Jaepyo, Head of the Chaplaincy; Kim Dongho, Secretary General of the Mission Association (Administration); Seo Jaehong, Foundation Director; Lee Cheolgi, Foundation Auditor; and Lee Byungho, CEO.
After holding a thanksgiving service for the establishment of the church built in Mogotio, Kenya, to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the hospital, the team pledged to unite with local church leaders for the gospel. They also met with missionaries serving in Kenya to offer encouragement and gifts, visited mission sites, and discussed possible support measures.
The team visited Kenyatta University and Mogotio Hospital, which established a sisterhood agreement with Gwangju Christian Hospital in 2023, to review their operations, medical staff, and equipment, and to explore the possibility of providing medical staff training programs and exchanges.
In preparation for overseas medical volunteer work in the second half of the year, the team visited three local health centers?Manjanimingi, Majimoto, and Emsos?to assess the local medical environment and current conditions, and to investigate the feasibility of future mission work and the necessary supplies.
Hong Geonyoung stated, "By visiting the site and directly observing the mission situation, my understanding of Africa has greatly improved," adding, "It was a valuable opportunity to deeply consider the direction our hospital and mission association should take in the future."
