Jungjingong and Busan Port Authority Join Forces to Resolve Export Logistics Challenges for SMEs
Building an Air and Sea Logistics Platform
Expected to Reduce Logistics Costs for SMEs
The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (Jungjingong) announced on May 14, 2025, that it has signed a business agreement with Busan Port Authority (BPA) at the BPA headquarters to provide global logistics support for export-oriented SMEs and startups. This agreement was pursued to establish a stable export foundation for domestic SMEs and startups expanding overseas, in response to changes in the global trade and logistics environment.
The main contents of the agreement include: ▲ joint implementation of export programs for SMEs located in domestic and overseas logistics centers ▲ development of new businesses utilizing BPA's overseas logistics centers ▲ expansion of the logistics network ▲ identification of on-site logistics challenges and improvement of related systems ▲ promotion of logistics-related education and exchange of professional personnel.
With this agreement, Jungjingong plans to establish an integrated air and sea logistics support platform exclusively for SMEs by linking Smart Trade Hub with overseas logistics centers operated by BPA.
In addition, both organizations have included in their collaborative agenda a plan to support SMEs and startups facing difficulties due to recent U.S. tariff policies by utilizing BPA's overseas logistics centers located in Los Angeles and Long Beach, United States. Under the agreement, Korean SMEs and startups exporting to the U.S. can receive services such as lower-than-market rates, customs clearance agency, and transportation when using BPA's Los Angeles and Long Beach overseas logistics centers.
Going forward, Jungjingong plans to secure dedicated maritime logistics spaces for SMEs and startups at major port-based maritime logistics hubs, including Incheon and Yeosu-Gwangyang following Busan, to resolve shipping logistics challenges. The agency will also review various support measures, such as expanding integrated air and sea logistics centers and reducing maritime logistics costs.
