She received this honor for her paper titled "Effect of submerged and floating cathodes on sustainable bioelectricity generation and benthic nutrient removal in sediment microbial fuel cells," supervised by Professor Kim Kyunghoe.
This paper was highly evaluated for presenting research findings on electricity generation in sediment microbial fuel cells (SMFCs) and the effectiveness of removing nutrients present in marine sediments.
In her study, she revealed that SMFC-CW, which partially submerges carbon fiber electrodes and exposes them to air, demonstrated superior performance in terms of current density for high power output and reduction of internal resistance.
The 2025 Joint Conference of the Korean Association of Ocean Science and Technology Societies, where the awards ceremony was held, was hosted by KAOSTS and attended by six domestic academic societies related to marine science and technology.
