‘Opinet’ Smart Evolution... Truck Drivers Can Now View Gas Prices and Employment/Accident Insurance Information at a Glance
From Fuel Cost Savings to Daily Welfare Information,
Transforming into a 'Life-Oriented Platform'
Korea National Oil Corporation and Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service signed a business agreement on the 13th to cooperate in improving information accessibility and user convenience for transportation industry workers, such as truck drivers, by utilizing the oil price information platform ‘Opinet’ operated by the corporation.
Opinet is an internet web and mobile app service providing gas station price information, operated by the corporation since 2008. As of the end of 2024, it is a representative public service closely connected to daily life, with 230 million annual users.
Transportation industry workers are considered a vulnerable group with low information accessibility, and their subscription rates to employment insurance and industrial accident insurance remain low. Employment insurance and industrial accident insurance are essential systems that protect their livelihoods and support the sustainability of the transportation industry. However, many in the field still report that it is difficult to enroll because they are simply unaware of these systems.
The corporation will create a separate menu on Opinet to provide guidance on employment insurance and industrial accident insurance enrollment, while the welfare service will distribute Opinet information leaflets to 38 cargo associations nationwide.
Opinet is widely known as a service that allows truck drivers, who are sensitive to fuel costs, to compare real-time gas station price information nationwide and choose more affordable stations. By integrating livelihood-related welfare information, such as employment insurance and industrial accident insurance, Opinet has expanded its function beyond simple price guidance to become a ‘public information platform’ that provides practical assistance in daily life.
This agreement is being recognized as a model case of enhancing public convenience through public platforms, as it provides practical welfare information to vulnerable groups in information blind spots.
