Fire Destroys Eight Greenhouses at Large Botanical Garden in Asan
7,000 Square Meters Out of 9,000 Destroyed
At approximately 10:49 p.m. on May 12, a fire broke out at a large botanical garden in Dogomyeon, Asan, South Chungcheong Province.
The fire completely destroyed eight greenhouses (7,000 square meters out of a total floor area of 9,000 square meters), and approximately 3,000 species of plants along with various fixtures were lost.
No casualties were reported, and property damage is still under investigation.
Fire authorities suspect that the fire was caused by an electrical issue in the greenhouse distribution panel, and they are investigating the exact cause of the incident.
Meanwhile, this botanical garden also experienced a fire in February 2023, which burned down most of its cultivation greenhouses.
