The Taehwagang Spring Flower Festival is a representative spring event in Ulsan. This year, under the theme "Spring Garden, Let’s Go Flower Viewing," approximately 60,000 spring flowers will be on display. Various hands-on programs will be held in gardens where nature and culture blend, and a large turnout of family visitors is expected.
In line with this, the Korea Racing Authority will operate a free horse riding experience event to help citizens become more familiar with horses and horseback riding in their daily lives. The experience will be available on May 16 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on May 17 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applications can be made on-site on a first-come, first-served basis without prior reservation.
Any Korean national who is at least 105 cm tall and weighs 75 kg or less is eligible to participate. Professional safety personnel will be on hand at all times to prioritize the safety of participants. To ensure the welfare of the horses, each horseback riding session will operate for 45 minutes followed by a 15-minute break.
In addition, there will be displays of small horses such as ponies, photo zones, and on-site learning programs for children. The Ulsan Derbyon Customer Support Center will also offer citizen participation programs, including a roulette event and membership appreciation events, providing a wide range of entertainment for visitors.
Chung Kiwhan, Chairman of the Korea Racing Authority, stated, "We hope that experiencing horseback riding in the heart of the city will lower the barriers to entry for citizens and help establish horseback riding as a familiar leisure activity. We also hope that this event, held in conjunction with local festivals, will provide an enjoyable experience for many people."
