with 94 Schools
All schools in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province will open their gymnasiums, sports fields, and other facilities to local residents.
On May 11, the Siheung city government announced that it had recently signed a "School Facility Opening Activation Agreement" with nine schools, including Baegot Lala Elementary and Middle School, Seohae Elementary School, Sorae Elementary School, Sihwa Narae Elementary and Middle School, Sihwa Elementary School, Gunseo High School, and Seohae High School, to expand the opening of public sports facilities such as gymnasiums and sports fields.
The city explained that, with this agreement, all 94 schools in the district have now signed related agreements with the city. Previously, the city began promoting school facility opening agreements in August 2022, with 85 schools participating as of September last year. With this latest agreement, all schools in the district have now completed the process.
The agreement is a project promoted by Siheung City, the Siheung Office of Education, the schools, and the Siheung Sports Council to expand spaces for community sports activities and foster cooperation within the educational community. Through the agreement, the city will provide support for two years, covering operational expenses such as public utility charges and facility repair costs, as well as expenses for facility improvements related to the opening of school facilities.
