Hwang Jeonga: "People Power Party Seized Presidential Candidate by Force... Beyond a Soap Opera, It's a Horror Movie"
Hwang Jeonga Urges People Power Party
"Withdraw from the Presidential Race and Voluntarily Disband"
Hwang Jeonga, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea's election committee, strongly criticized the People Power Party, which has begun the process of replacing its presidential candidate, saying, "They have violently seized the presidential candidacy and handed it over to a proxy for Yoon Sukyeol."
On the morning of May 10, spokesperson Hwang held a briefing at the Democratic Party's central headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, and stated, "The People Power Party should take down its party signboard." She continued, "All those who participated in the People Power Party's presidential primary have become victims of fraud," and added, "At this point, it has gone beyond comedy or a soap opera and has become a horror film or a grotesque movie."
Previously, the People Power Party's emergency leadership committee began the process of replacing its candidate with one of the preliminary candidates after the unification of party candidate Kim Moonsu and independent preliminary candidate Han Deoksoo failed to materialize.
Spokesperson Hwang stated, "The People Power Party was never qualified to field a candidate in the first place, but now it has completely lost its status as a legitimate political party," and added, "They are nothing more than remnants of rebellion and a coup d'etat force."
She went on to say, "After shaking the foundations of constitutional order, the People Power Party has now destroyed party democracy as well. There is no longer any reason for its existence," and emphasized, "It is not the People Power Party, but a disgrace to the people."
